Jerry's
Words of Wisdom by
Pres. Jerry Jenkins
April is here
and my tour is half over. Actually it seems like it just started,
and we have accomplished a lot.
I went to the
Circle K dinner at Mount St. Mary’s last night with a bunch
of my fellow Kiwanians and their wives. We all had a really good
time. The Circle K had a real nice dinner and show, and we watched
while their new officers were inducted. It is really great knowing
there are some kids like that following after us. I just hope they
continue with Kiwanis after they leave the Mount.
A good time
was also had at Cumberland at the Division conference attended by
Ken Dell and myself. Due to the illness of Russ Turney, Art Riley
was elected to another term as Lt Governor, and Russ was re-elected
as Lt Governor-Elect. A nomination for governor was delayed until
June as no one wanted to be placed in nomination. All clubs had
not represented, so we will have to look a little further for a
nominee for Governor.
Art spoke about
the Capital District reshaping effort, and I have asked him to speak
to us about this subject. He has been invited to attend our meeting
on the 21st of April and discuss the changes with us.
Take all your
complaints about the food at the Holiday to Vern Simmons. I’m
sure he can set you straight on any problems you may have.
That’s
all for this month folks. Be safe and God Bless,
Jerry

Kiwanis
Club of Suburban Frederick Welcomes Special Olympic Equestrian
Frederick County Special Olympics Equestrian athlete Sarah Roney
was recently the quest of the Kiwanis Club of Suburban Frederick.
Sarah was joined by her mother, Carolyn Roney, who entertained
the club with highlights of Sarah’s competition in the
Special Olympics World Games held in Dublin Ireland last year.
Sarah was one of only four equestrians chosen to represent the
state of Maryland in Dublin where she competed in two events
and won ribbons in both. (L to r, Clyde Roney, Sarah’s
proud grandfather and member of Suburban Frederick Kiwanis Club,
Sarah Roney, Carolyn Roney, and Wynne Roney, Sarah’s proud
grandmother.) |
