How many of you really look and read the Kiwanis magazine when it comes in the mail? And how many just scan through it to see if you know anyone, look at the pictures and then put it in the magazine rack. I will admit that I was a "scanner" until I was looking for something to read and picked up the December Kiwanis magazine. Once finished that, I riffled through my magazine rack for January and when the February issue came I couldn't wait to read it. (I'm still working on it because it just came a couple days ago.)
Take some time to read your latest Kiwanis magazine. You will be impressed with all that Kiwanians around the world are doing to make a difference. This is The Year of the Fire and it asks us to take responsibility for growth, improving our clubs and rendering more service. I know we're a hard working club, but is there more we can do????? What old or new projects can we come up with or improve upon that address the needs and wants of the people in our community? But more importantly, who do we know that we can invite to join us with our projects? Another member or two or three can bring new and different ideas. Who do you know that would like to be a part of our effort? Invite them to have dinner with us. You may be pleasantly surprised by their answer. Ask Eric, he knows.
Since today is the beginning of the month, it's board night. Hopefully the weather will co-operate with us. It seems like the weather gods are really testing our patience lately. If the meeting is called off, there will be several of us making phone calls to let you know. But I prefer to remain positive.....I'll see you tonight!

Our Pack 285 Learns Native American Culture

Dave Maloney recently attended our Pack 285's Pack Meeting where, in addition to Scouts receiving patches (including 15 Cubs receiving special patches for helping with the gift wrap!), the 40+ Cubs and family were fortunate to witness a display of Native American dancing presented by members of the Northern Cheyenne and Crow Nations. Along with the dancing, the elders taught the Cubs caring for family, the land and the animals. Watch this Cannes Movie Festival award-winning movie produced and directed by Dave Maloney!
