Past Div. 19 Distinguished Lt. Gov. Deborah New graciously donated a registered Appaloosa colt named NHFKelo Dark Star (nicknamed "Diamond") to Sarah Roney, a 2003 International Special Olympic Equestrian and granddaughter of Suburban Frederick Kiwanian Clyde Roney.

On June 16, 2004 Deborah attended a special weekly meeting of the Kiwanis Club of Suburban Frederick to formally present the filly "Diamond" to Sarah. Carolyn Roney, Sarah's mother and Clyde's daughter, made the acceptance speech noting that the English language is inadequate to express the appreciation she and Sarah feel for this most generous gift. Deborah New also made some remarks, noting that Diamond will be cared for by Deborah and Sarah and will be used for the benefit of others in a therapeutic riding program for the physically handicapped. She is pleased and moved that she has found such a good home for Diamond, who Deborah was unable to take with her as she moves to South Africa with fiancé, Peter.

Also in attendance in addition to many club members were Capital District Gov. Linwood Watson, Gov. Elect Warren Kane, Div. 9 Lt. Gov. Art Riley, Past. Gov. John Tyner, club member and Cap. Dist. Sec. Ellis Stroup, and several Kiwanians from other clubs.
