Health Watch
Lee
Adams is now at home recuperating. Glad you are home, Lee. Come
see us as soon as you can! Ellis Stroup is recovering nicely
from his recent knee surgery. And Ed Crawford is also home after
a little episode with his ticker. But he is resting comfortably
and, with Connie's help, recuperating nicely.

Sales
SELL, SELL, SELL. Please, people, the
time is getting short. Orders are due in on 11-20-03. Ask you
neighbors, friends, relatives, co-workers,
anyone you talk to. Given them the opportunity to
buy Florida Indian River fruit. It sells itself — JUST
ASK. Thanks, Carmi

JERRY's
WORDS of WISDOM by
Pres. Jerry Jenkins
Well
Folks,
It
is November already and we are on a roll. We're getting ready
for the Christmas wrap, and we've already worked the Mount —
with more to come.
For
November, we have Dana and Sylvia visiting on the 6th. This is
a significant-others night. Our Board meeting will
be
on the
13th and hopefully by that time we will have made a decision on
our meeting place. Having had a lunch at the downtown meeting,
I wonder if we can stand to put on that much weight. Perhaps Phil
can arrange another Inter-club there and I will let you know if
we can stand it!!
I would like
to remind all Committee Chairs that we decided either last year
or the year before, I don’t remember which, that
we would not dispense money to any charity without there presence
at a meeting. I have instructed our Treasurer not to cut a check
to anyone unless that criterion is met. I believe the presence
of the recipient brings to our mind where our money is going and
further, do we still want it to go there.
I
just got word that all is well with the Mall, and they are comfortable
with
our setting the hours. Vern has ordered the paper and bows,
and tables and chairs will be available. I haven’t checked
with the coffee man about freebies yet, but I’m sure we can
afford to buy our own if necessary. Please contact all your friends
for
assistance;
we will need all the help we can get. Carol, Jean and Connie are
you ready to bake? The wrap starts the day after Thanksgiving.
This is a big one which will take all our effort.
Mount
St. Mary's basketball starts this month,
Between basketball and Christmas wrap
we will be very busy. Click

the schedule.
Don’t
forget the Interclub for the Governors visit in Westminster.
We will be inducting one new member at that meeting and would
appreciate
all who can attend. The meeting is on the 2nd of December, which
is before the December Chatter will be distributed, so I wanted
to give you some heads-up in advance.
Have
a great month and a great year,
Jerry

Pres. Mark Gaver and wife Donna (l) with Pvt. Troy Angel of
Thurmont Police and DFC. Todd Crum from the Sheriff's Department.
Officers Angel and Crum run the Sheriff's Explorer Post, a
branch of Boy Scouts of America. during a recent visit, they
explained the Explorer Post activities and how many of the
Explorers go on to a successful career in law enforcement.
On this occasion, the officers accepted a check from our club
in support of the Explorer Post. |

Patrick Haley drones on and on
and on about every topic under
the sun. Man, this guy is sharp,
but after a big meal, there was a
lot of snoozing going on! (Just kidding!
Actually he was very interesting

from an otherwise hard-to-please

Mission of Mercy
by Dean and Dick Baldwin
Both
of us thoroughly enjoyed being
with your Kiwanis club recently,
and the
check is so greatly appreciated!
We
at Mission of Mercy provide
free medical service to uninsured
in our community. The Mission
of Mercy
van is on the road 5 days a week,
and we are at Frederick's
Church of
the Brethren every other Monday
from 9-3.
I volunteer as an R.N. and triage
the patients for the doctors.
My
husband, Dick, does administrative
work.....checks them in, makes
appointments, pulls files, and
anything else that is necessary
in the
process.
Again, thanks for making us
feel so welcomed.
God
Bless us all, Dean

Interclub Report
by Phil Pople
Dana Cable will be our guest speaker on Nov 6. Both he and his wife will be attending. It will be spouses night.
I would like to get back on track as far as interclubs are concerned. We need
everybody involved in interclubs in order for this to work. For planning purposes the following is a list of meeting times and places in our Division Nine. As per Pres. Jerry, he would like to see two round robins this year. Most likely in the spring and summer months.
We also need to to get people up to the Mount to attend Circle K meetings. They meet Mondays 9PM in the Faculty Lounge, 3rd Floor at the Knott Academic Center.
Don't forget Mt Airy Pancake Breakfast set for Nov 22.
