Phil's Podium by Pres. Phil Pople

Well, believe it or not I've been President for a month now and the club is still alive and kicking!! Miracles never cease!

First and foremost our thoughts and prayers go out to Glenn and Ken. I've asked Bud to keep sending out get well cards on a monthly basis. Please keep both of them in your thoughts.

Our holiday party is now scheduled for January 12th. Right now it looks like it will be downstairs at the Holiday Inn. Cocktail hour begins at 5:30 and the festivities start at 6:30. Thanks Charlie for coordinating that.

According to Bill, our fruit sales is going gangbusters. If that's the case we are going to need a lot of help offloading the truck. As usual we will have very little notice when the truck rolls into town, so please make yourself available when the time comes.

Look out - the gift wrap is almost upon us for another year. Don't forget we are wrapping again this year on black Friday weekend. We will be setting up Wednesday Nov 21st at 8 PM. We will also be setting up Friday Dec 7th at 8 PM. Thanks to Dave with coordinating with the mall management in pulling this off. I know it can be a major headache. And thanks to Larry and Charlie for procuring the supplies. Bill and I are going to be soliciting sponsors to help defray some of the costs. If anybody would like to join us your more than welcome.

On the 17th we have the Mt Airy Breakfast. Its also the day we are going down to Crofton to see how their club handles an auction. Hopefully we'll get some good tips. Our speaker last week had a wealth of information to pass on about auctions. After the gift wrap we are going to be discussing on how we can pull a major auction off. I'm looking forward to it. We've proved we can do it on a smaller scale, now lets step up to the plate and hit a home run on this next one.

This year I am really stressing interclubs. We do a good job with interclubbing with downtown, but we seem to be lacking in spreading the wealth with the other clubs in our division. I would like to take a journey in the past and re-visit the idea of having everybody interclub and that every club in the division is visited at least once if not twice this year. A round-robin is certainly a feasible idea possibly this spring or summer. And lets not forget our Circle K and Key clubs. We need to reach
out more with our sponsored youth groups. Circle K meets on Tuesdays at 5PM at the Knott Academic center room 221.

Thanks to Bud and Bill for the fantastic lineup of speakers this past month. Please let Bud know of any speakers you might have in mind for the future.

We're off and running this year. Let's see if we can keep this pace up.
