Phil's Podium by Pres. Phil Pople

First, I would like to congratulate Christine on a fantastic 2 years as our club President. Not a whole lot of people would volunteer to run the office 2 years in a row like she did. She took over a club that was feeling the pinch after losing so many people in a very short period of time and got it to where we have a lot of new members filling vital positions within our club. She left a foundation on which we can build on and with your help, we will.

For those who missed last weeks meeting, you missed probably one of the best I've seen in my 11 years in the club. Dave, Rob, and Ellis and Christine were all recognized for their valuable contributions throughout the year. In Rob's case over the last six years as Sec. And Christine over the last two years as Pres. Christine had us running all over the place trying to be the first one to finish a puzzle. And Bud presented Christine with a bunch of flowers.

As I mentioned the other night, my two main goals for the year are:

1. Five new members added to our roster. We've got a great membership growth committee headed by Frank Parker who has already had some wonderful ideas about how we can make that possible.

2. The second goal is to come up with 2 new fundraisers. Lets face it folks, we have a lot of dead time between January and September. We also are in need of giving our administrative account a big shot in the arm. I've tasked Bill along with his fund raising committee to come of with some ideas on how we can accomplish not only a new admin fundraiser but also a new regular fundraiser. Bill and I are going down to the Crofton Club on November 17th to witness their Live/Silent auction and see how the do it. Anybody who wishes to join us is more than welcome to
come.

Dave did a fantastic job with the speakers this past year. The best we've had in years. Let's keep it rolling by helping Bud line up speakers this year.

Finally I would like this club to go back to its roots. A club known to work hard and to play hard. We are known to be a blue collar club, known to work up a sweat and get our hands dirty in order to make a buck. But we also have fun doing it. Its called teamwork. So lets have fun, and remember, Lets be safe out there.

Story Teller Visits Club

Appalachian story teller, Kathleen Rudesill, shared some entertaining old-time stories with club members recently. Kathleen encouraged members to travel to Tennessee for the upcoming National Storytelling Association gathering.

Annual Club Fruit Sales Underway

Fundraising chairman, Bill Muffi, encourages members to sell, sell, sell. Return all orders by November 1st. Delivery will be between Nov. 23rd and Dec. 1st.

Officer Installation a Riotous Affair

Outgoing Pres. Christine Semon had us running around like kids trying to match puzzle pieces. 50/50 proceeds went to the winning team (the FRUITS!) consisting of Bud, Debbi, Jim K. and Mick. The effort netted each $2! After the installation which was conducted by incoming LTG Bill Breichner, awards were presented to grateful recipients including Dave Maloney, Ed Crawford, Rob Summers, Ellis Stroup, and our wonderful 2-term past-president, Christine.
