Gift wrap fundraiser a success

On behalf of the Kiwanis Club of Suburban Frederick, I express our thanks to those who made our club’s annual gift wrap fundraiser at Francis Scott Key (FSK) Mall such a success. Our success would not have been possible without the donation of mall space by FSK Mall and their parent company PREIT Services LLC.

Thanks to the many members of our club for manning the gift wrap tables faithfully. To the many non-club members who gave of their time as well, including parents and Cub Scouts of Cub Pack 285, students at Tuscarora and Walkersville High School Key Clubs, Middletown Middle School Builder’s Club, and Mount Saint Mary’s University Circle K Club.

In addition, volunteers from Special Inspirations Inc., SAFE Kids, Bechtel Corporation, Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, and the Kiwanis Club of Frederick also assisted.

Several volunteers not affiliated with any particular organization also stopped by to lend a hand. Their assistance, particularly during the several days prior to Christmas, was invaluable.

But most of all, I would like to thank those who availed themselves of our gift wrapping services and donated to our efforts. Thanks to them, Kiwanis Club of Suburban Frederick exceeded its fund raising goal. The Kiwanis motto is “Serving the Children of the World,” and with the funds raised, the Kiwanis Club of Suburban Frederick will be able to focus greater efforts on assisting the disadvantaged children and the needy of Frederick County.

Contributions can still be made to The Kiwanis Club of Suburban Frederick Fund and are accepted at any time in any amount. Checks may be made payable to and mailed to The Community Foundation of Frederick County, 312 E. Church St., Frederick, MD 21701, with “The Kiwanis Club of Suburban Frederick Fund” inserted in the check’s memo line. All contributions are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
