History documented

David Maloney recently produced a 30-minute DVD movie documenting the 35-year history of the Kiwanis Club of Suburban Frederick. On behalf of the club, Maloney donated a copy to the Historical Society of Frederick County. “I am proud of the service provided by our club since 1972,” said Maloney, “and I am glad there is a place such as the Historical Society that can preserve this history of the contributions Kiwanis has made to Frederick County.” Making use of newspaper clippings and photographs contributed by club members and of a club history compiled by club member Ed Crawford, the movie is set to background music and presents in chronological order the activities, fundraisers and contributions the club has made over the years. Dedicated to those who passed away while members of the club, the DVD also includes charter members, photographs of present members and a listing of the scores of organizations that have benefited over the years. Pictured is Marie Washburn, Historical Society of Frederick County librarian, accepting the DVD along with a program of the 35th Anniversary Charter Night Celebration from Maloney.
