World War II veteran and Frederick resident
Guy Whidden, right, recently spoke to the Kiwanis Club of Suburban Frederick
about his experiences during the D-Day invasion. At the time Whidden was a
member of the 502nd Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division
that parachuted into Normandy, France on June 6, 1944. Now a retired teacher,
Whidden was consultant to the popular HBO television miniseries, “Band of
Brothers.” At left is Glenn Magaha, fellow veteran and club member.
