Area club to hold charity auction

FOR THE FREDERICK NEWS-POST

On Sept. 13, The Kiwanis Club of Suburban Frederick will hold a charity live/silent auction from 6 to 9:30 p.m., at the Quality Inn (formerly the Holiday Inn), 999 W. Patrick St., Frederick, to benefit the Kiwanis Club of Suburban Frederick Fund held by The Community Foundation of Frederick County.

More than 100 items, ranging from artwork, dinners, concert, movie, theater and sports tickets to furniture, local gift certificates, distinctive craft items, and collectables will be auctioned during the event. Participants can also enjoy hors d’oeuvres and refreshments. Tickets are $5 per person and are available at the door or by calling Bill Muffi at 301-698-9415 or Joe Vitanza at 301-694-3478.

Dave Maloney, president-elect of the Kiwanis Club of Suburban Frederick, said that the club has received great interest from the community and from the many organizations that have donated items. He added that Frederick auctioneer Robert A. Wilson has volunteered his services for the evening.

“Kiwanians respond to the needs of their communities by working together to achieve what one person cannot accomplish alone,” said Maloney. “Because of this event, The Kiwanis Club of Suburban Frederick Fund will be able to provide even more scholarships and grants, and help even more children in need. We encourage everyone to join us on Sept. 13 for this worthwhile event,” he said.

The Kiwanis Club of Suburban Frederick partnered with the Community Foundation in creating The Kiwanis Club of Suburban Frederick Fund to carry out its mission of changing the world one child and one community at a time.
