The Kiwanis Club of Suburban Frederick recently learned about the mission
of the Frederick County Veterans Association from FCVA member Dan Wagner. Wagner
explained that the focus of the FCVA is on the unique needs of the Reserve and
Guard components of the Armed services and their families who have previously or
are now serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. Wagner also explained his involvement
with Frederick County Right to Life and its ties with Mission of Mercy. Linda
Ryan, Mission of Mercy executive director, also addressed the club and described
the organization’s program for offering free health care for the underinsured
via the mission’s mobile units and volunteer doctors and nurses. The Kiwanis
Club of Suburban Frederick has supported Mission of Mercy in the past through
its Young Children Priority One program which assists needy children from
prenatal development through age five. Pictured, from left, are Wagner, and Ryan
receiving a “thank-you” gift from Christine Semon, club member.
