Meet Opie
the Otter
At a recent meeting of the Kiwanis Club of
Suburban Frederick, Dr. Jacqueline Dougé, deputy director of the Frederick
County Health Department, introduced club members to their new mascot, Opie the
Otter. According to Dougé, the health department and the Frederick County Child
Health Partnership have come together to encourage residents to make healthy
lifestyle changes, and Opie the Otter is their fitness mascot, who reminds all
of us that being active and taking care of your health can be fun. The program
titled “Hey Frederick! Commit to be Fit!” is for everyone of all ages who is
interested in making or sustaining a healthy lifestyle. Pictured, at left, is Ed
Crawford, Young Children Priority One chairman.
