donation from the Kiwanis Club of Suburban Frederick Fund as

on.
| November 30, 2006: Special Inspirations, Inc., a
nonprofit organization founded by parents and friends of children
with severe disabilities, recently received a $4,700 donation from
the Kiwanis Club of Suburban Frederick through its donor-advised
fund at The Community Foundation of Frederick County.
The
Kiwanis Club of Suburban Frederick, dedicated to changing the world
one child and one community at a time, turned to the Community
Foundation to establish a donor-advised fund to carry out its
charitable activities with a focus on those relating to children in
Frederick County.
Christine Semon, Kiwanis Club president,
says a donor-advised fund at the Community Foundation allows the
Club to enjoy the flexibility of maintaining an advisory role in
recommending which charitable purposes or nonprofits to support
while the Community Foundation manages the Fund.
"Special
Inspirations is a perfect recipient for a contribution from The
Kiwanis Club of Suburban Frederick Fund," says Semon. "The Kiwanis
motto is 'Serving the Children of the World,' and what better way is
there to be of assistance to those in need right here in Frederick
County than to contribute to Special Inspirations?"
Special
Inspirations, Inc. offers respite services that provide immediate
help to families seeking a break from the daunting task of caring
for children with acute special needs. It also provides a resource
referral service and makes volunteer "mother's helpers" available to
assist families with daily chores such as laundry, cleaning, picking
up prescriptions, and food shopping.
Special Inspirations
Founder, Mike Koval, himself a parent of a child with severe
disabilities, says donations to Special Inspirations will help
offset the purchase of special wheel chairs and medical equipment
needed for these children.
“We will also use these funds to
help families and caregivers by providing a respite from the intense
daily routine of helping a child with disabilities,” Koval
says.
Contrary to popular belief, insurance companies do not
cover respite services or offer in-home long term nursing care for
children with disabilities, Koval noted. He said that children with
severe disabilities and their families have great needs and that
there is a lack of resources for them.
“The awe-inspiring
efforts of the Kiwanis Club of Suburban Frederick through The
Community Foundation of Frederick County will have a tremendous
impact on these families, especially during this holiday season,”
says Koval. For more information about Special Inspirations, Inc.,
