Frederick, Maryland; September 23, 2005; The Kiwanis Club of Suburban Frederick Fund, one of over 500 funds held by The Community Foundation of Frederick County, contributes $250 to the Bulgarian Orphanage and Medical Relief Fund, Inc. The money will be used to provide life-saving medicines and vitamins to orphaned children in Bulgaria.

The Kiwanis Club of Suburban Frederick established a donor-advised fund with the Community Foundation to help improve the lives of children and senior citizens in Frederick County and beyond. This type of fund allows the Kiwanis Club of Suburban Frederick to recommend which charitable causes to support, subject to the approval of the Community Foundation’s Board of Trustees. This is the second time that The Kiwanis Club of Suburban Frederick has recommended that a disbursement from the donor-advised fund supports the Bulgarian Orphanage and Medical Relief Fund, Inc. In 2004, a similar contribution was made, and this year’s gift builds on the service club’s international charitable objectives in support of children.

The Community Foundation of Frederick County works with individuals, families, businesses, and civic clubs, like the Kiwanis Club of Suburban Frederick, to establish funds that award scholarships, provide grants and support charitable causes.
