Suburban Frederick Fund Makes $2,000 Gift to
Orphanage

| Frederick, Maryland; September 9, 2004: The Kiwanis
Club of Suburban Frederick Fund, one of over 450 funds held by
The Community Foundation of Frederick County, contributes
$2,000 to the Bulgarian Orphanage and Medical Relief Fund,
Inc. The monies help provide life-saving medicines and
vitamins to as many as 30,000 children in Bulgarian orphanages
during the course of a year. The gift is part of the Kiwanis
Club of Suburban Frederick’s ongoing international charitable
commitment.
The Kiwanis Club of Suburban
Frederick turned to the Community Foundation to establish a
donor-advised fund to carry out its charitable activities,
particularly those relating to children and senior citizens in
Frederick County and beyond. This fund type allows The Kiwanis
Club of Suburban Frederick to recommend where the fund’s

The Community Foundation promotes local
philanthropy by establishing charitable funds that award
grants and scholarships. These awards have amounted to over
$10 million since the Community Foundation’s founding in
1986.
