Frederick, Maryland; December 5, 2005; The Kiwanis Club of Suburban Frederick Fund, one of over 500 funds held by The Community Foundation of Frederick County, contributes $2,000 to The Frederick County’s Response to Hurricane Katrina Fund at the Community Foundation and $3,000 to The Kiwanis International Foundation Disaster Relief Fund. The donation to The Frederick County’s Response to Hurricane Katrina Fund benefits those impacted by Hurricane Katrina who have relocated to Frederick County and seek assistance to rebuild their lives. The contribution to Kiwanis International Foundation Disaster Relief Fund is directed toward helping disadvantaged children affected by the Gulf Coast hurricanes.

"One of our club's primary missions is to serve disadvantaged children, and recently nowhere has that mission been more critical than in assisting those affected by the Gulf Coast hurricanes," stated Kiwanis Club of Suburban Frederick President Christine Semon. "We chose to contribute to The Kiwanis International Foundation Disaster Relief Fund because the foundation, working through Kiwanis districts and clubs within the affected areas, ensures that contributions will be directed to children with the most immediate and critical needs. We also chose to contribute locally to The Frederick County's Response to Hurricane Katrina Fund, knowing that resources are needed locally to assist those who have relocated to Frederick County because of the disasters.”
