Frederick, Maryland;
March 10, 2006: The Kiwanis Club of Suburban Frederick Fund, one of
over 525 funds held by The Community Foundation of Frederick County,
contributes $5,000 to Special Inspirations, Inc., a nonprofit
organization founded by parents and friends of children with severe
disabilities. Special Inspirations, Inc. offers respite services
that provide immediate help to families seeking a break from the
daunting task of caring for these special children. It also provides
a resource referral service and makes volunteer "helpers" available
to assist families with daily chores such as laundry, cleaning,
picking up prescriptions, and food shopping. For more information
about Special Inspirations, Inc., visit http://www.specialinspirations.com/.
"Special Inspirations is a perfect recipient for a
contribution from The Kiwanis Club of Suburban Frederick Fund,"
shares Kiwanis Club of Suburban Frederick President Christine Semon.
“The Kiwanis motto is ‘Serving the Children of the World,’ and what
better way is there to be of assistance to those in need right here
in Frederick County than to contribute to Special Inspirations?"
The Kiwanis Club of Suburban Frederick, a service
organization dedicated to changing the world one child and one
community at a time, turned to the Community Foundation to establish
a donor-advised fund to carry out its charitable activities,
particularly those relating to children and senior citizens in
Frederick County and beyond. Since The Kiwanis Club of Suburban
Frederick Fund is donor-advised, the club enjoys the flexibility of
recommending which charitable purposes or nonprofits to support,
subject to approval by the Community Foundation’s Board of Trustees.
The Community Foundation has been weaving the fabric of a
better community since 1986 by working with individuals, families,
businesses, associations, and other nonprofits to establish
charitable funds that enhance the local quality of life by
supporting a range of community projects or awarding grants and
scholarships. In its 20-year history, the Community Foundation has
provided more than $13 million in scholarships and grants to
deserving students and worthy nonprofits. The latest disbursement
from The Kiwanis Club of Suburban Frederick Fund exemplifies how the
Community Foundation connects the dots between a donor with a dream,
a fund to reflect that donor’s charitable intentions and the
positive impact that can be achieved as a result of a gift from the
fund, as with this contribution to Special Inspirations, Inc. from
The Kiwanis Club of Suburban Frederick Fund. To learn more about the
