Silent
Auction/Buffet Breakfast to Benefit The Kiwanis Club of Suburban
Frederick Fund at Community Foundation
Frederick, Maryland; September 5, 2006: A silent auction and
buffet breakfast are scheduled from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on
Saturday, September 23, 2006 at the American Legion located at 1450
Taney Avenue in Frederick to benefit The Kiwanis Club of Suburban
Frederick Fund, one of over 550 funds held by The Community
Foundation of Frederick County. The Kiwanis Club of Suburban
Frederick turned to the Community Foundation to establish this fund
to support its charitable activities, particularly among Frederick
County's children and senior citizens. The Club plans to recommend
that all proceeds from the silent auction and buffet breakfast
support Special Inspirations, a nonprofit organization founded by
parents and friends of children with severe disabilities. Special
Inspirations, Inc. offers respite services that provide immediate
help to families seeking a break from the daunting task of caring
for these special children. It also provides a resource referral
service and makes volunteer "helpers" available to assist families
with daily chores such as laundry, cleaning, picking up
prescriptions, grass mowing, and food shopping. For more information
about Special Inspirations, Inc., visit http://www.specialinspirations.com/.
“Through
Special Inspirations, families with special-needs children can take
advantage of much-needed programs such as respite care, mothers
helpers and resource referrals,” says Kiwanis Club of Suburban
Frederick Fundraiser Chairman Phil Pople. “Kiwanis International
focuses on the needs of children, and we cannot think of a better
Frederick County program to support than Special Inspirations,” he
adds. To learn more about the work of The Kiwanis Club of Suburban
Frederick, explore http://www.suburbanfrederickkiwanis.org/.
The
Kiwanis Club of Suburban Frederick partners with Special
Inspirations to host the buffet breakfast and silent auction of such
items as jewelry, watches, a computer, a home theater system, a 1995
Chrysler Concorde, time-shares, and more. Tickets may be purchased
at the door for $9.00 per adult and $6.00 per child age twelve or
younger.
The Community Foundation of Frederick County weaves
the fabric of a better community by working with individuals,
families, businesses, and nonprofits to establish funds that, in
turn, award grants and scholarships. To date more than $15 million
has been returned to the Frederick County community. For more
information about the Community Foundation, visit the web site or
